The 24-time Grammy-winning rapper reportedly arrived over 45 minutes late to his performance at Shanghai Stadium on Saturday night.
Fans took to the social media platform X to express their disappointment, with one concertgoer describing the event as “the worst concert I’ve ever been to.”
Why are Chinese fans angry at Kanye West?
“So I’ve been a fan of Kanye West since I was a teen. Was hard to get tix for him in Shanghai but got it. Was hyped af. Couldn’t even sleep night before. But. Worst concert I’ve ever been to,” the fan wrote, sharing footage of West performing “All of the Lights.”

Among the major complaints were lip-syncing, limited microphone use, and the rapper allegedly disappearing for more than 20 minutes mid-show while tracks like “Wolves” played with no one on stage.
Attendees also noted that West remained inside a circular stage setup that obstructed views even for VIP ticket holders and that he wore a mask throughout the entire performance, further disconnecting him from the crowd.
Adding to the chaos, videos circulating on X appear to show sections of the audience chanting for a refund in Mandarin.
The news about Kanye's performance was also highlighted on Page Six, even though the rapper's management has yet to comment.

Elsewhere, the hip-hop mogul surprised fans after releasing his latest music video, which featured his daughters, North and Chicago West, behind the wheel of futuristic cars.
North, who appeared to be carving her own path in the entertainment industry like her father, delivered her rap verses in Japanese.
TMZ reported that the primary focus of the music video was his daughters, who were racing futuristic cars around the desert with some gremlin-like critters.
The Faded crooner has in the past faced sharp criticism for saying how much he disliked award-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar’s music despite labelling him a "gift to the world".
