There were rumours that Hogan was on his "deathbed," but at the time, his team said that he was just dealing with the side effects of a neck surgery he had in May.

What footprints does Hulk Hogan leave in the wrestling industry?

Hulk made professional wrestling a sport that families could enjoy.

Before him, wrestling was only popular with a small group of people. Hulk's over-the-top ring performances attracted kids and their parents, boosting the sport's popularity.

In 1996, Hulk went from being a hero to a villain when he founded the New World Order (NWO) and adopted the persona of Hollywood Hulk Hogan. It made him and professional wrestling even more famous.

In 2005, Hulk was put into the WWE Hall of Fame, but that was short-lived after he was involved in a scandal when he was secretly filmed.

In 2020, Hulk was inducted into the WWE for the second time, this time as a member of NWO.
