On Monday, July 14, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced new fuel prices that will be in effect from Tuesday, July 15, until Thursday, August 14.

In its monthly review, the energy regulator raised the price of petrol by KSh 8.99, diesel by KSh 8.67, and kerosene by KSh 9.65 per litre.
What are fuel prices in Kenya?
In Nairobi, petrol now retails at KSh 186.31, diesel goes for KSh 171.58, and kerosene is sold at KSh 156.58.

"We have determined the maximum allowed prices of petroleum products that will be in effect from Tuesday, July 15, 2025, to Tuesday, August 14, 2025, in compliance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No. 192 of 2022.
"The maximum permitted petroleum pump prices for super petrol, diesel, and kerosene increase by KSh 8.99, KSh 8.67, and KSh 9.65 per litre over the reviewed period," EPRA stated.
What are fuel prices in Tanzania?
The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) announced new cap prices that took effect on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
In the review, EWURA reduced fuel prices slightly, indicating relief for Tanzanian consumers.
According to the authority, the reduction in fuel prices was to conform to the new Finance Act that went into effect on July 1.
According to EWURA's pricing guide, as reported by The Citizen, the retail price of petrol in Dar es Salaam decreased from TSh 2,887 (KSh 143.50 ) per litre in June to TSh 2,885 (KSh 141.91 at the current exchange rate).
Kerosene prices dropped the most, from TSh 2,877 (KSh 143.01) to TSh 2,629 (KSh 130.68) per litre, while diesel prices also decreased, from TSh 2,826 (KSh 140.47) to TSh 2,767 (KSh 137.54).

What are fuel prices in Uganda?
Elsewhere, in some regions of Uganda, the retail price of petrol increased from USh 4,900 (KSh 176.40) in May to approximately USh 5,050 (KSh 181.80) per litre in June.
According to Daily Monitor, the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) attributed the surge to logistical delays along the Kenyan supply line, which handles the majority of Uganda's petroleum imports.
Around 90% of the about 2.5 billion litres of fuel that Uganda imported in 2024, worth about US$2 billion (KSh 259 billion), came in through Kenya.
How did Kenyans react to the new fuel prices?
Kenyans on social media expressed their frustration over the new high pump prices announced by EPRA.
