Did Toxic Lyrikali endorse Ruto?

In other news, Kenyan rapper Toxic Lyrikali faced criticism following his performance at a State House event hosted by President William Ruto.
The event, aimed at empowering youth through the distribution of motorbikes, car wash equipment, and other tools, featured several artists, including Bahati and Toxic.
A video surfaced showing MP John Kiarie leading Toxic to a spot in front of the president, where Kiarie urged him to endorse Ruto’s second term by saying “tutam,” a play on the phrase “two term.”
Initially, Toxic continued performing and left the stage, but returned to say the phrase before greeting the president.
Toxic later hinted that he was pressured into making the endorsement.
The gesture sparked mixed reactions among fans on social media, with some accusing him of losing his authenticity and others expressing disappointment, suggesting his career might suffer.
Despite the backlash, some defended him, noting the challenging situation artistes face in political settings.
The incident sparked a wider conversation on the intersection of music, politics, and freedom of expression in Kenya.
