On Tuesday, June 25, Gen Z-led protests broke out across the country, including in President William Ruto’s hometown of Eldoret, as Kenyans marked one year since the deadly 2024 demonstrations against the Finance Bill.

In scenes that resembled last year’s protests, hundreds of young people took to the streets in Nairobi, Eldoret, Mombasa, and other towns.

They carried placards and Kenyan flags, chanting slogans and singing protest songs, demanding justice for those killed and accountability from the Kenya Kwanza administration.
