However, as the ceremony approached the moment of lowering the coffin into the grave, things took a dramatic turn. The Gen Z mourners became uncontrollable.
They surrounded the grave, wailing and shouting while leaning on the wooden casket. Some removed their hats and placed them on top of the coffin, bowing their heads in sorrow.

Shirtless man during Gen Z burial in Machakos
Total confusion ensued, as captured in the video. One young man, shirtless, leaned on the coffin before signalling a friend to join him.
A man in a suit attempted to calm the rowdy crowd, but his efforts were futile as the Gen Z attendees remained ungovernable.
A thick cloud of dust rose into the air as the mourners moved around aimlessly in what appeared to be pure chaos.
There was a young lady who was seen squatting near the grave, sorrowfully staring at the coffin.
Kenyans angry with Gen Zs at Kangundo burial
The commotion, screaming, and complete disruption of the burial program did not sit well with many social media users. Here are some of their reactions:

“This has never happened in Ukambani since independence. Even in 2007 when there was chaos across Kenya, Ukambani remained peaceful. My fellow tribesmen, we are heading in the wrong direction.”
Mututu Angelyne:
“I have witnessed this, and it was a real problem. The pastors were chased away—they said that part belongs to the youth.”
Nancy Kilonzo:
“Very disrespectful, to say the least... sad indeed."
Kimenye Nic:
“Lack of meaningful engagement for our youth is a ticking time bomb. Heaven knows what will give…”
Simon Da Rock:
“I hope all houses in that area have metal doors. Education is urgently needed in that area.”
Chris Mutua:
“Why can’t they let the family mourn in peace and silence?”
