The Alliance Girls’ High School Alumnae Association (AGAA) has formally petitioned the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), demanding immediate disciplinary action against a teacher accused of sexual abuse of students.
The complaint, dated July 7, was delivered through a legal firm, which AGAA engaged to send two official demand letters—one to the Alliance Girls’ Board of Management and the other to the TSC.

Both letters urge the immediate interdiction and investigation of the suspect, a teacher and former Christian Union patron at the school.
Why is Alliance Girls' teacher under scrutiny?
The call for action follows a recent investigative report by journalist and alumna Christine Mungai, who revealed troubling allegations of sexual abuse implicating the said teacher.
The report, based on testimonies from former students, described patterns of misconduct spanning several years.
AGAA Chairperson Janet Kabeberi-Macharia expressed the association’s support for the survivors, noting that the association believes their accounts and stands with them in their quest for justice.
In the demand to TSC, AGAA urged that the teacher be interdicted immediately under the provisions of the TSC Code of Regulations for Teachers.
They also called for a comprehensive, impartial investigation to uncover the full scope of the alleged abuse, including potential undisclosed victims.

Beyond TSC, the alumnae asked the school’s board of management to report the matter to both the TSC and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
They also requested that the board remove the teacher from all school-related roles and begin an internal inquiry.
AGAA also recommended the launch of awareness programmes to educate students on sexual abuse and safety. The association added that the teacher should not be allowed on school premises or have any interaction with students throughout the investigation period.
They added that, should the allegations be substantiated, his name should be permanently removed from the register of teachers.

What support is being offered to Alliance Girls abuse survivors?
To support survivors, AGAA is rolling out several initiatives, including free counselling, legal support, and confidential reporting platforms.
Kabeberi-Macharia acknowledged the emotional impact of the revelations and assured survivors that professional mental health support is available.

AGAA has also invited volunteers to assist with counselling, legal response, policy advocacy, and fundraising.
While the school administration has confirmed that the teacher is not currently teaching and that an interdiction process has started, AGAA maintains that independent oversight and transparent procedures are essential to ensure full accountability and lasting change.
“We are grateful to all alumnae for living by our school motto and walking in the light. Let us extend kindness to the survivors and look out for one another as we address this deeply important matter,” Kabeberi-Macharia said.
Murang’a teacher jailed for 90 years over abuse of pupils
TUKO.co.ke previously reported that a court in Murang’a handed a primary school teacher a 90-year prison sentence after he was found guilty of inappropriate conduct involving 10 pupils at Muthiria Primary School.
The offences reportedly took place between January and May 2015, with the victims aged between 13 and 16 years. The teacher, John Gichia Mugi, was sentenced to nine years for each of the 10 counts.
The matter came to light after one pupil confided in their visiting parents, leading to an official complaint. Investigations revealed that the teacher had targeted pupils in their dormitory at night.
