"There is a difference between pre- and post-divorce. It is like two different societies. I think that is when you begin to see friendships for what they are. There are some Christmas parties you are not invited to, cause it is just like 'oh, where is your plus one?'. They do not say it, but suddenly, when you're no longer plus one, there is just a very quiet- and I noticed another friend of mine who went through it was like I thought it was just me. I was like, no, especially if you live in an estate. There is a weird, almost subconscious profiling even when you walk into the party," she said.

Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, counselling psychologist Naomi Muigai explains that it’s common for divorced individuals, particularly women, to feel ostracised by their former social circles. She notes that the shift is often unspoken but deeply felt.

“Divorce tends to reclassify a person socially, especially in tight-knit communities. Friends, especially those in couples, may not know how to relate to the new status, and this often leads to avoidance. It’s not always intentional, but it’s very real,” she told TUKO.co.ke.

Is Janet Mbugua single?

Janet came out to shut down claims that she was pregnant after her photos emerged online, causing speculation.

She revealed that she was still single and maintained that she had embarked on a weight loss journey.

She had shared a photo of herself wearing a black dress that had a see-through lace covering her tummy, which left many thinking she was announcing her pregnancy.

Are Janet Mbugua and Eddie Ndichu co-parenting?

Janet and her ex-husband have resorted to co-parenting their two sons, and they have, from time to time, been seen attending school events together.

The two loving parents are on good terms and always reunite for their sons' birthdays, going out for dinner to celebrate the milestones.

In October 2024, Huru, the ex-couple's son, turned nine, and their secondborn, Mali, clocked six.

Eddie and Janet threw their sons a private birthday party, which was attended by a few close friends.

Recently, Eddie and his twin brother, Paul Ndichu, turned 40, but their ex-wives, including Janet, didn't celebrate them as fans wished.

Paul's baby mama, and mother to his twin daughters, Grace Msalame, celebrated him and Eddie.

The media personality shared a photo of the twins, penning a sweet message to them on their 40th birthday. Her actions elicited mixed reactions online.

Caren Nyota, HoD Entertainment, added details of Janet Mbugua and Eddie Ndichu's co-parenting.
