Kenya’s Harambee Stars are bracing for one of their most crucial matches in the CHAN 2024 tournament, and they now have even more motivation to secure the win.

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 3 pm, the team, captained by Abud Omar, will face Morocco in their third Group A game.

A victory would mean an automatic ticket to the knockout stages with one game still to spare.

From President William Ruto to former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, prominent figures have been pledging lucrative rewards to inspire the players.

Joining the list in grand style are celebrated singer Kevin Bahati and his wife, influencer Diana Marua.

Just hours before kickoff, the couple took to social media with a bold promise, and they made sure it came with a visual spectacle.

In a video posted on their platforms, Bahati and Diana, dressed in Harambee Stars jerseys, stood outside their lavish mansion flanked by luxury rides.

How much will The Bahatis award Harambee Stars if they beat Morocco?

They then unwrapped thick stacks of cash, amounting to KSh 1 million, declaring it would be handed directly to the players if they topple Morocco, right there in the stadium after the match.

“We are doing something very special. We are coming to the stadium with this money. If Harambee Stars beat Morocco, we are going to be awarding them this money. Let's do this,” Bahati announced.

The celebrity couple also had a special shout-out for Kenya’s star performer in the tournament, Austine Odhiambo, pledging KSh 200,000 for him, plus additional cash for the rest of the squad.

“Sisi tunapea players. Mkipiga hao watu na mtutolee aibu, we are giving you KSh 1 million,” Bahati added.

Did William Ruto honour his promise to Harambee Stars?

In another update, TUKO.co.ke reported that State House confirmed a total of KSh 42 million was given to the Harambee Stars after their 1-0 win over DR Congo.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed said the money will be shared among all 27 players, including those on the bench, as well as 15 technical staff members.

This meant that everyone involved with the team was rewarded for the win.
