The resignation, which was accepted by the NPS, allows him to fully concentrate on his thriving music career and halts any pending disciplinary action over alleged desertion.

Is Samidoh a police officer?

Daily Nation reports that Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed the decision, saying Samidoh is now free to pursue his ambitions. He officially ceased being a police officer after years of service in both the regular police and the Administration Police’s Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU).

Samidoh’s police career had recently been clouded by controversy, ranging from his marital drama to a viral video of him chanting the opposition-linked “wantam” slogan, which angered senior officers and prompted a transfer to the ASTU.

He later sought anticipatory bail after the service moved to charge him with desertion, a case he argued was politically driven.

Court documents revealed that he had been granted official clearance to travel to the US for performances, even as police chiefs pressed claims against him.

His exit comes against the backdrop of political tensions, with former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua accusing other Mt Kenya musicians of betraying the region after meeting Deputy President Kithure Kindiki at his official residence in Karen, Nairobi.

While Gachagua urged fans to boycott their shows, Kindiki defended the artistes, insisting they were only seeking government support to improve the creative industry.
