Eliud Lagat Says Wife Abandoned Him With Kids Due to Eye Condition, Sets Date for Fundraising

Kalenjin comedian Eliud Lagat has once again made a public appeal for financial support, citing ongoing struggles with an eye condition and his marital woes.

The entertainer, whose stage name is Tapnyolei Rosaline, is known for his cross-dressing performances and humorous content, both online and at live events.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Lagat, who initially had a fundraiser planned for Sunday, July 20, in Nandi County, said that they had to postpone the event.

Why did Eliud Lagat postpone fundraiser?

"We had to reschedule the event because we hadn’t reached everyone initially, so we’ve now set a new date," he explained, adding that the new fundraiser will take place on Sunday, September 14, at Kapkagaon Primary School.

Lagat previously underwent eye surgery at Tenwek Hospital and now requires a follow-up operation. He said the total amount needed for the procedure and post-operative care is approximately KSh 1.6 million.

In an update on his condition, Lagat said that while he has been able to access some medication, the cost of proper treatment remains a challenge.

“Some of my fans suggested organising a harambee to raise the money once and for all,” he said.

Arap Uriah, known for imitating football commentator Peter Drury, publicly shared that Lagat’s marriage broke up because of his illness.

“He told me that, because of this condition, he is unable to work since he cannot see clearly. Constant irritation of the eyes has made his life even more difficult.
To make matters worse, he is now left to care for his children alone after his wife left when things became tough.”

Lagat confirmed to TUKO.co.ke that his wife had abandoned him in his time of need and he is struggling to care for his children.

“I’m just doing my best. She left, and we’re no longer in touch. She has never called me,” he added.

To his fans, he said:

The entertainer, who also works in the medical field and has expressed political ambitions, shared a series of images and clips capturing the emotional moment. She was seen driving to the airport in New York before embracing her son tightly as he arrived from Nairobi.
