How Ong'ondo Were left parliament to scene of shooting

According to NTV, the MP's driver was notified to pick him up from the Parliament Buildings at 7:15pm.

The MP had joined his colleagues for the day's afternoon session in which the Finance Bill 2025 was admitted into the legislative house.

He left the legislature at 7:24pm and detoured to an M-Pesa outlet in the city where he was to withdraw some cash.

The vehicle he was onboard later proceeded out of the city toward Ngong Road through Valley Road.

Ong'ondo was intercepted by the attackers at the City Mortuary Roundabout.

One of the gunmen disembarked from the motorcycle and started shooting indiscriminately toward the spot where the MP was seated in the car.

The attackers then took off immediately.

Ong'ondo's chauffeur and bodyguard were left with rushing him to The Nairobi Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

The attack appeared to be premeditated, as the lawmaker's driver and bodyguard were unharmed.

Meanwhile, ODM leader Raila Odinga disclosed that he had contacted investigators to enquire about the progress of the probe into the tragic incident.

The authorities assured him that a comprehensive investigation was underway.

Raila urged Kenyans to remain calm as state agencies work to piece together evidence and uncover the truth regarding the tragic incident.

Expressing his condolences, the veteran politician extended sympathies to the grieving family and the residents of Kasipul constituency.

Meanwhile, national leaders and fellow legislators strongly condemned the attack, calling on law enforcement to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The late lawmaker had first been elected to the National Assembly in 2017 and secured reelection in 2022.

Prior to his untimely death, he had disclosed concerns about threats to his life but did not reveal who was behind them.

His sister-in-law, Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo, attributed his killing to political tensions within his constituency and neighbouring areas in Homa Bay County.
