Siaya police officer kills boss, shoots self
TUKO.co.ke previously reported that a deadly confrontation at Ng’iya Police Post in Siaya county ended with the deaths of two officers.

What are the leading causes of death involving police officers?
Gunfire incidents have been listed several times as the leading cause of police fatalities. The circumstances often involve ambush by assailants and confrontations during arrests.
The second leading cause involves motor vehicle accidents that claimed tens of lives. The circumstances involve car crashes, motorcycle accidents, and incidents of police officers being knocked down by vehicles while on duty.
Medical conditions, such as heart attack and stroke, have equally claimed several lives of police officers.
According to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, 55 police officers died between January and December 2024, and 830 others were injured in the line of duty.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo stated that cases of public hostility against the police increased in 2024 compared to previous years.
He attributed it to the political unrest that rocked the country following the Gen Z protests on June 25, 2024, that left over 60 protesters killed, hundreds injured, and others missing.
Masolo Mabonga, HOD Current Affairs and Politics, updated this article with details on the leading causes of police fatalities in Kenya.
