Nakuru: Grief as Mother, Child Die in Accident Involving Trailer, 14-Seater PSV Matatu at Ngata Area

Nakuru - At least two people have been confirmed dead following a grisly accident along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

The Thursday, July 17 accident involved a trailer and a 14-seater public service vehicle matatu belonging to Rongai Line Sacco.

How did the Ngata Bridge accident happen?

Preliminary reports indicate the lorry hit the PSV matatu from behind at Ngata Bridge before both vehicles rolled down.

TV47 reported that a woman and her child died instantly, with several other passengers sustaining injuries.

Witnesses said the mother and child had stopped the matatu in order to board when the trailer rammed into the matatu from behind.

Several passengers were trapped inside vehicles, but rescue teams managed to pull them out before rushing them to the hospital for treatment.

The residents who gathered around the horrifying scene said the area has recently had a spate of serious accidents occasioned by the fact that the newly tarmaced road has not been properly marked.

Transport was disrupted along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway as police redirected vehicles through the Njoro interchange.

The bodies have been taken to Nakuru City Mortuary as police continue with investigations to establish the cause of the accident.

How 3 people were killed along the Namanga Highway

In other sad news, a speeding lorry struck and killed a mother and her daughter in Korompoi along the Namanga Highway.

Eyewitnesses said the two victims were crossing the road when a speeding lorry ploughed into them, killing them on the spot along the busy highway.

In the immediate aftermath of the crash, the driver is said to have fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle and leaving residents in shock and distress.

Traffic along the busy highway was paralysed as angry residents demanding justice torched the lorry.
