Utawala, Nairobi: A 15-year-old Form Three student has made a heartfelt appeal to the public to help raise funds for her urgent kidney transplant.

Jennifer Museo, who was previously enrolled at Precious Blood Girls School in Riruta, had to transfer to a day school in Utawala due to her deteriorating health condition.
When was Jennifer Museo diagnosed with kidney failure?
Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, her brother, Benson Timothy, said the bright student was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure in October 2024.
Since then, she has been undergoing dialysis twice a week, with each session lasting approximately four hours—a routine that forces her to miss school regularly.
“She was diagnosed with kidney failure, which became critical in October 2024. By the end of August, she is expected to complete pre-transplant tests — but that depends on finances. Some crucial tests, including HLA matching, are still pending and costly. While it’s possible to complete them within August, meeting that target remains uncertain without sufficient funds,” Benson said.
The Social Health Authority (SHA) has been supporting Museo by covering the cost of dialysis sessions.
However, her family says SHA has not extended support for other critical aspects of the treatment as promised by the government.
“We stopped following up with SHA regarding the cost of pre-transplant tests and medication because it has become difficult. We've been paying for nearly everything out of pocket but it is very costly,” Benson said.
He added that Museo is on constant medication, requires blood pressure management, and needs regular blood boosters—all of which come at a high cost.
How can you support Jennifer Museo's treatment?
The full kidney transplant procedure, including medication and post-surgery care, is expected to cost over KSh 3 million.
The family is now appealing to well-wishers to support Museo’s treatment journey and help her get a second chance at life.
"The total cost of pre-transplant tests, the transplant itself, and immediate post-surgery care is estimated between KSh 3 to 4 million. We aim to raise these funds before September 2025, so Museo can undergo the transplant and resume her near-normal life. Any amount is highly appreciated," Benson revealed.

According to a close friend who spoke to TUKO.co.ke, life has been extremely difficult for the 43-year-old mother, who only relies on menial jobs such as washing clothes to provide for the family and cover their basic needs.
