Kericho Man in UK Earns MBA, Says Family’s Support Made It Possible

A Kericho man who relocated to the United Kingdom in December 2023 is celebrating a major milestone after graduating with a Master’s degree in Business Administration.

Kelvin Kipkurui, affectionately nicknamed Tycoon by his friends and family, earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration, a milestone he attributed to sheer hard work and sacrifice.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Tycoon noted that earning his MBA was no easy feat as he had to juggle school, work and family, all while also paying his tuition and upkeep.
However, less than two years down the line, he can finally say it was all worth it. He earned his MBA from Anglia Ruskin University.
"Like many people who return to school for a Master's Degree, I had to find a balance in studying and working, plus paying for the school fees and other bills. It was not easy, but I am glad I have finally graduated with my MBA," he said.
The MBA graduate also thanked his family for their love and support since moving to the UK to pursue his dreams.
"To my dad, Weldon Langat, thank you for being the driving force behind my dreams and for always pushing me to aim higher. To my mum, Melody Langat, your constant love and check-ins kept me grounded. To my amazing wife Patricia Koske, your daily support, encouragement, and belief in me kept me going. To my friend Edwin Kipkosgei, your inspiration and motivation were invaluable," he said.

Tycoon said he looks forward to pursuing a PhD and building a strong foundation in the UK, before returning to serve and give back to his community.
"With a clear vision for the future, I aspire to run for the Gubernatorial seat in Kericho County in 2032," he said.

When the UK-based man shared his milestone on social media, many were inspired and congratulated him on his academic milestone.
His wife Patricia specially celebrated him, promising to always be there for him and be his cheerleader.
"Congratulations, Baba Kibii, you truly deserve it. May God bless the desires of your heart. I will always be here to hold your hand and cheer you up. Kibii and I are proud of you," she said.

Students with a C grade or higher in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) are eligible to apply for a foundation year, which serves as the preliminary level (Level 0) of a bachelor's degree.
However, requirements may vary from one university to another.
Kenyans seeking to study in the UK must also apply for a study visa after earning a place in any of the universities.

Information shared by the University of Leicester indicates that to study for a master's in the UK, you must hold a recognised Kenyan bachelor’s degree (Honours) from a recognised university.
