A school in Nandi county has been thrown into mourning following the untimely and unfortunate demise of an integral community member.

Dominic Kimutai met his fate on Thursday, August 7, during a fun-filled retreat in Mombasa county.
The young teacher’s bright life and future were cut short after he allegedly drowned during the retreat.

"It is with deep sorrow that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the entire Sang’alo Secondary School teaching fraternity following the sudden and tragic passing of Mwalimu Dominic Kimutai.
Dominic was a dedicated and promising young teacher whose life was sadly cut short after he drowned during a retreat in Mombasa. His passion for education and commitment to shaping young minds will be remembered by all who knew him," wrote Silas Kogo, Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Sang’alo/Kebulonik Ward and Chairperson of the County Assembly’s Sports, Youth and Talent Development Committee.

The excursion, organised by the school administration to celebrate the holiday break, ended in heartbreak as colleagues and students returned home mourning one of their own.
Kimutai, English Literature teacher at the school, was dedicated to his work, which he did diligently.
