When did Metrine give birth?

The first-time mother has begun her motherhood journey with medical storms that have left her frozen with fear for her child's well-being.

"I fell pregnant last year for a young man I was dating. However, when he found out I was pregnant, he dumped me. I have had to endure the pregnancy journey by myself with the help of family members and friends.

I gave birth on Monday, July 28, at Pumwani Maternity Ward. I gave birth to a premature baby, and he had to be put in an incubator. He was taken to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Newborn Unit (NBU) immediately after birth," the shaken mother recounted.

Where does Metrine need to take her child to?

Metrine shared that her son has a heart infection which is affecting his health and drastically weakening his immune system.

She tearfully revealed her son's health is deteriorating at a fast pace and that he needs urgent medical attention.

"I have been told I need to take him to Mbagathi County Referral Hospital. He needs to undergo an echo scan. He is currently in an oxygen incubator since he cannot breathe well because of the heart issue," she disclosed.

The mother of one says she needs money to transfer her son to another hospital but lacks the funds.

What does Metrine do for a living?

She is jobless, and her only support system is her mother, who accompanied her to the hospital to give birth.

"We do not even sleep. We have to check on the baby every two hours. My bills, including my child's scan, amount to KSh 20,000. However, the longer we stay here without getting help, the more the bills escalate, which is worrying and leaves us in a fix.
I do not have a job, and my mum is not financially stable. I created a WhatsApp group with my friends to raise money to help me and my child, but until now, there has been no financial help. I am confused, I do not know what to do. I am stranded and I appeal for help. I do not want to lose my child," she cried.
