Kenya had to defend for the majority of the contest after Marvin Nabwire was sent off for denying Angola a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Benni McCarthy's team went down in the early stages, but Austin Odhiambo equalised from the penalty spot.
What happened in Kenya vs Angola first half?
As Benni McCarthy had predicted, Angola quickly began to dominate possession from the outset.

They nearly scored in the third minute, but Joaquim Cristóvão Paciência's curling effort sailed just wide of the target.
In the seventh minute, Paciência tapped the ball into the net to give the visitors the lead, following an inch-perfect cross from Bernabe Tomas.
In the ninth minute, Harambee Stars hero Austin Odhiambo, who had impressed against DR Congo, was brought down in the box by Afonso Marques.
After a VAR review, the hosts were awarded a penalty.
Odhiambo converted the spot kick to bring Kenya on level terms.
In the 18th minute, Kenya's goalkeeper, Byrne Omondi, nearly gave away possession in the box after a back pass.
Kenya's Marvin Nabwire was shown a straight red card after a VAR check for fouling an Angolan player who was preparing to capitalise on Omondi's error.
After the red card, Angola laid siege to the Kenyan goal but couldn’t find a way to add a second before halftime.
How was Kenya vs Angola second half?
In the second half, Angola camped in Kenya's half, looking to create chances against the 10-man hosts.
Kenya were forced into desperate defending. In the 58th minute, Sylvester Owino made a crucial clearance following a corner from Angola.
They had to weather wave after wave of attacks from the Palancas Negras. Paciência had a chance to head in a second, but his effort went wide.
In the 67th minute, Owino attempted an ambitious long shot after a corner, but it went over.
Moments later, Chrispine Erambo came close to scoring for Kenya, but his shot was blocked.
In the 86th minute, Owino had a chance to give Kenya the lead from a corner, but his tame shot hit the side netting.
Angola thought they had scored a 96th-minute winner, but it was ruled out for offside. Harambee Stars held on to secure a crucial point in what was an entertaining clash.
