American popstar Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, has died at the age of 48 following a private, three-year battle with cancer.

Kelly decided to take a step back from her show so she could take care of her sick ex-husband, with whom she has two kids.
How did Kelly Clarkson's family mourn Brandon Blackstock?
According to People Magazine, the renowned talent manager's family representative sent a statement confirming his demise.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time," said the statement.
Blackstock’s death comes just days after Kelly disclosed the gravity of his condition. On August 6, she announced the postponement of her Las Vegas residency, revealing that her former partner had been seriously ill.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she shared in a heartfelt message to fans, thanking them for their patience and kindness.
Together, Clarkson and Blackstock shared River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 9.
Blackstock was also a father to two older children, Savannah and Seth, from a previous marriage.
In 2022, he became a grandfather after his daughter, Savannah, gave birth to a baby boy, Lake, adding a new generation to the family.

Did Kelly Clarkson ask court to declare her single?
The mother of two took to court in 2021 to ask the court to declare her single after filing for divorce from her husband.
She had filed for divorce in 2020, but had court proceedings going on, which she asked the court to fast-track.
According to her, she wanted to be given her freedom back so that both she and her ex-husband could move on with their lives and start meeting new people.

Elsewhere, the TV talk show host and American Idol winner was ordered by the court to pay her ex-husband a staggering KSh 21.7 million in spousal and child support.
Reports indicated that the hefty amount was far beyond what the singer and mother of two had initially anticipated.
The ruling marked another dramatic turn in the couple’s highly publicised separation.
She later won the Montana Ranch after the court upheld her prenup.
