Andy Byron resigned on Saturday as the CEO of the major AI company he co-founded, Astronomer.

His resignation follows an incident where he was caught canoodling with the head of HR on a jumbotron at a Coldplay concert.
“As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met. Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted it,” the company stated.
Why did Andy Byron resign?
According to the New York Post, the board could have chosen to fire Byron, which would have left him with nothing.
Sources suggest that his resignation was likely the best financial course of action.
Byron, 50, and Kristin Cabot, 52, created a viral sensation when they were seen trying to avoid the kiss cam while cuddling at the concert near Boston on Wednesday night.

During this awkward moment, Cabot quickly covered her face, while Byron ducked out of view.
Lead singer Chris Martin, mistaking the moment for a sweet interaction, remarked:
“Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.”
By Thursday morning, the two were identified as the high-profile CEO and HR director of a tech company.
On Friday, July 18, following the emergence of a new video showing Byron and Cabot kissing at the concert, both were placed on leave while Astronomer launched an investigation into the situation.
Byron reportedly started negotiating an exit package after being placed on leave.
Following this, Pete DeJoy, a co-founder of the company and a Brooklyn native, was appointed as the interim CEO.
The status of Cabot’s future with the AI-driven data company remains uncertain.
Astronomer will begin searching for its next chief executive while DeJoy leads the company.
