American preacher Joel Osteen's mother, Dodie, has died at 91 years old after she battled and overcame cancer.

Her battle with cancer has been an inspiration to many who saw her go through healing until she was declared cancer-free.

How has Joel Osteen mourned his mum?

Her son Joel penned a moving tribute in honour of his mother, referencing her as a great servant of the Lord.

"It is with a heavy heart that Victoria and I, along with our family, announce the passing of our cherished mother and grandmother, Dolores 'Dodie' Osteen. She was the beloved matriarch of Lakewood Church, an inspiration to millions of people around the world, and a faithful servant of God. Known as ‘Mama Dodie’ to the entire Lakewood family, together, we celebrate her amazing life and lasting legacy. She passed of natural causes, peacefully at her home. She was 91 years old," he wrote.

Renowned gospel TV channel Daystar Television Network shared a photo of the late pastor and an announcement of her death.

"Heaven has welcomed a true matriarch of faith. Yesterday, Dodie Osteen, a beloved minister of the Gospel, devoted mother, and unwavering woman of prayer, went home to be with the Lord. Her legacy of healing, faith, and love has touched generations. Please join us in praying for her family and all who were impacted by her remarkable life."

Dodie was the co-founder of Lakewood Church, which she started with her late husband, John Osteen.

She had five children: Paul, Lisa, Tamara, Joel, and April. Some of them are mainly running their renowned international church.
